Assistant Professor | ![]() | Dr. V. Sumitha M.A., M.Phil., NET, SET, Ph.D. | Dr. Sumitha Victoria is an Assistant Professor in English since 2012. She holds a doctorate in English literature in the year 2015. Apart from being a University Rank holder in UG from ManonmaniamSundaranar University in 2007, she also cleared NET and SET exams. Her area of specialization is Post-Colonial Literature. She has published research articles in UGC CARE LISTED journals. Attended more than 100 seminars and webinars, she encourages students throughout their programs so as to enable them to progress expeditiously to theirdegrees. She provides education of the highest quality in the English Language in literature judiciously combining breadth with depth. |
Assistant Professor | ![]() | Mrs. Jenitta M Shalin M.A., M.Phil. | Mrs. Jenitta M Shalin has 3 years of teaching experience at Malankara Catholic College, Mariagiri and she has been working at WCC as Assistant Professor of English from April 2021. A university rank holder in UG, she has a passionate desire for teaching and her area of specialization includes American Literature. She has also attended and presented papers in seminars, conferences and workshops. |

- Mrs. Arul Bai Fells Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the best outgoing student who get the highest mark in all the three semesters in M.A English.
- Management Scholarship is awarded to the best student in I M.A English.
Departmental Activities
Departmental Activities of the academic year 2020-2021
- An International Conference on Paradigm Shift in Teaching Language, Literature and Culture was conducted from 30.10.2020 to 01.11.2020.
Departmental Activities of the academic year 2019-2020
- A Regional Seminar on Literature and Literary theories was organized by the Department of English on 19th September 2019.
- A Regional Seminar on Modern British Literature was organized by the Department of English on 23rd September 2019.
- A state level one day workshop on Aspects of Modern English was organized by the Department of English on 4th October 2019. Dr. John Sekar, Professor of English, American College, Madurai, served as the resource person.

- To promote learning among students an extension activity was held on 24-01-2019 in Home Church Nursery and Primary School, Nagercoil.

- Two staff members and 28 students of II M.A. English has actively participated in the Intercollegiate Seminar on Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure and Antony and Cleopatra held on 8-08-2017 at Muslim Arts College, Tiruvithancode.
