History of the Department
When the college was established in 1973, Chemistry was being taught to the Pre-University students.B.Sc. Chemistry major was offered to the students from the year 1979 onwards. Ever since the inception of B.Sc. Chemistry major, there has been heavy demand for the course as evidenced by the number of applications received every year. The Department of Chemistry has a well equipped laboratory to impart quality education to the students. The Department was upgraded as Research centre in the year 2012.Four of the faculty members are Ph.D. degree holders and among them two are recognized research guides of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. Three faculty members are pursuing research programmes.
