History of the Department
The M.Phil Department of Botany was introduced in Women’s Christian College in the year 2009-2010 with an initial sanctioned strength of four. During the first year of establishment the Department was under the care of Prof. Joy Mohandhas, Head of the Department of Botany. From the academic year 2011-2012 to till date Dr. R. Medo Merina is handling the classes and guiding the scholars. At present five research scholars are pursuing their pre-research. Scholars are giving their best to get ranks and cent percent results.

Every year the research scholars secure ranks, gold medals and distinction. The scholars receive a high quality education including web based learning. The Department is unique because of our focus on fundamental research. The research topics include Ecological disturbances, Symbiosis, Hydrology, Microbiology and Wastewater management studies..
