YOUTH WELFARE AND FINE ARTS

  • Performance 2015-2016

        The Youth Welfare Finearts had a colourful beginning with the inauguration cum freshers day on 7th August 2015. Our principal Dr. Nirmala Manuel presided over the function. Dist Youth Co-ordinator Mr. S.Senthil Kumar was the guest of honour for the day. The students form 14 departments actively participated and displayed their talents.


        The association provided a prospect for the students to broadcast their critical thinking and verbal talents through a one hour live programme ‘ValakathinVasalil’ in All India Radio, Nagercoil on 26th August 2015. Seventeen Students seized the opportunity.


        Being acquainted with the cross – cultural heritage of Kanyakumari District, Onam was celebrated on 26th Aug 2015. In this connection an Attapoo Competition was held on 25th August 2015 students of Various Departments set to lay the AttapooKolam. Dr. RashmiAjith (MD, D.Go) was the chief guest. She gave a brief history behind the celebration of onam prizes were distributed.

        On 24th  Feb 2016, on inter collegiate dance competition ‘DANCE FEST’ was conducted. Dance team from various colleges affiliated to ManonmaniamSundaranar University Participated in the fest.The fest was presided over by the principal Dr.NirmalaManuel Mrs. AnjanaDharmaraj was the guest of honour and Dr. Rosary Mary former Youth Co-ordinatorManonmaniamSundaranar University Offered felicitation. Competitions were held for Group Dance, Variety and folk. I Prize, II Prize and III Prize winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3000/-, Rs. 2000/- and Rs. 1000/- respectively for the two dance categories. Over all Championship Trophy was awarded for the overall champion The Prize Winner for Variety dance are,

              The Over all trophy was bagged by Nesamony Memorial Christian College, Marthandam.

        On 26th Feb 2016 an Inter departmental competition ‘WIDFAC-2016’ was conducted enforcing its theme “Youth and Peace”

        The valedictory function was held on 04.04.2016. Principal Dr. Nirmala Manuel presided over the function and gave away the prizes to ‘WIDFAC-2016’ Winners. Dr. BeenaLawrance offered felicitation to the outgoing members of the committee Mrs. NimalaRanjini and Dr. Shanthini M. Dhas. The Co-ordinator wishes the prize winners and congratulate them.

     

    Performance 2014 – 2015

  • • The inauguration cum freshers day of youth welfare and fine arts association was held on 13.08.2014. Our Principal Dr. Nirmala Nallathamby presided the function. Mrs. Meena Dev the Municipal Chairperson Nagercoil was the guest of honour. The students from 14 departments actively participated and displayed their talents.

  • • Leading educational institutions with the support of the district administration is conducting a book fair in the SLB grounds on 20.08.2014 nearly 50 students participate the cultural events and exhibit their talents in the book festival.

  • • An Attapoo competition was conducted on 05.09.2014 students from 14 departments participated.

  • • “Onam celebration” A cultural exchange was celebrated on 08.09.2014. Our principal Dr. Nirmala Nallathamby presided over the function. Prof. P. Vijaya Kumar former syndicate member Mononmanium Sundaranar University was the Chief guest. He gave a brief history of Onam. Our students displayed various traditional dances of Kerala regarding the Onam festival.


    • CALIDA FESTA’14 is an inter collegiate cultural fest conducted by St. Xaviers Catholic College of Engineering on September 12th and 13-2014. Miss. G. Anusha Beryl and Group Won the first prize in Group Song.


    • The youth welfare and the fine arts association adds another feather on it cap by conducting “DANCE FEST 2014”. An inter collegiate dance competition. Abut fourteen Colleges Under Manonmaniam Sundaranar University participated in the fest. The fest was presided by the principal Dr. Nirmala Nallathamby, Dr. Yuvraj the Youth Co-ordinator Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, the guest of honour declared the completion open by lighting the traditional lamp. Competition were held for western group and traditional group dance events the I prize winner was awarded a cash prize of amount Rs.3000/- the second prize was awarded a cash prize of amount Rs.2000/- the third prize winner was awarded a cash prize of amount Rs.1000/- for both the western and the folk dances. A special rolling Trophy was awarded for the overall performance.
