Student's Council

Manonmaniam Sundaranar University has established a Students’ Council in 2008. Being an affiliated college (Women’s Christian College, Nagercoil) under this university, our college Students’ Council is making rapid strides in its activities.


  • OBJECTIVES

  • 1.To provide leadership training and bring out the latent talents of the students.

  • 2.To promote cultural and intellectual co-operation among the students.

  • 3.To make the students enlightened citizens by arousing their civic consciousness.

  • 4.To strive to develop character, discipline, sense of responsibility, honesty, integrity and efficiency among the students .

  • 5.To organize meetings, debates, symposia, seminars, and study circles which will involve students participation.

  • Report 2015-2016

        The election was conducted on 10th August 2015.  To begin, the installation ceremony of Students' Council was held on 1st September 2015.  The Teachers' Day observed on 4th September 2015, by the Students' Council.  On 9th October 2015 Students' Council has arranged a programme on "Stress Management".  Dr. Justin Paul (Department of Psychiatry) KGMCH was the Guest Speaker.  On December 16th 2015 the Students' Council contributed an amount of Rs.10,000 for the flood affected victims of Cuddalore.   On a mission to march towards and to develop a sustainable environment liveable to all a project "Go Green" has been initiated by the Students' Council.  A counselling Programme was also conducted for arts students on February 12th 2016, Dr. Beula Edwin, Associate Professor of Physics department was the speaker of the Day.   On 12th February 2016, we have conducted Counselling Programme for the Arts students.  Yet another remarkable event took place on 23.02.2016.  The Students' Council Day.  The theme of the day being peace, Mr. Sutha, the chairperson of the Students' Council welcomed the gathering.  To mark the day open, principal Dr. Nirmala Manual and Dr. Irene Foster, the Guest Speaker of the Day let the dove to fly in the air.   The Students' Council activities came to halt for the academic year 2015-2016 on June 1st 2016.  The office bearers of the Students' Council along with few students paid a visit to an Orphanage - 'Anbu Illam'.  At this juncture, we thank our principal, Dr. Nirmala Manuel, the committee members, the Students' Council office bearers for the support to run this council smoothly and effectively.

       Above all we experience God's Grace and Mercy reigns over us throughout this academic year 2015-2016.

    Report 2014-2015

    Student's Council being the most vibrant council within our campus kick started its activities for the academic year 2014 – 2015.


    To imbibe the democratic spirit among the students community election was conducted on 1st August 2014, Students enthusiastically involved themselves in the election.


    The elected office bearers of the Students’ Council organized the Teacher’s Day on September 5th 2014. Teachers were honoured with gifts and praise. A debate was also conducted by the students on the theme “Wholistic Development of a Student” - Is it the Media or the Teachers. We the staff were much elated when they dedicated a song.


    The Installation Ceremony of Students’ Council was held on 12th September 2014. Dr. S.P. Udaya Kumar was the Chief Guest of the occasion. The Office bearers took the oath. Our Principal Dr. Nirmila Nallathamby honoured them Sash and pinned the badges, which was followed by candle light ceremony.


    It was in a befitting gesture our Students’ Council has initiated, collected money and sent their might Rs.6,115 to the cyclone (Hud Hud) affected areas of Andhrapradesh on October 2014.


    We hope to conduct motivational programmes for the students in the days to come.
