  • The vision of the cell is to provide a welcoming environment in the campus and giving opportunities to the students to develop their interpersonal skills which will help them to reach any part of the world confidently.

  • The mission of the Personality and Counseling Cell is to enhance the quality of life of studentsby promoting committed staff to meet the specific needs of individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

    1. To identify students with problems and helping them to help themselves
    2. To motivate the student to grow with the right positive attitude
    3. To guide the students to work with a long term goal

      • Regular counseling programme for outgoing students
      • Maintains individual mentoree records for students
      • Regular  visit to the hostel during the weekends

      PERFORMANCE

      2015-2016

            A one day programme was conducted for all teaching staff  on 19-06-2015. Mr. George Ninan, Bangalore was the resource person. Emphasis was given on the  themes ‘Being an effective missionary Professor in the working place’ and ‘the teacher as a good role model before the students’.

           Orientation programme was conducted for I year U.G. students on 26- 06-2016. After the ice breaking session, the students were given a brief introduction about the history of the college, the mission, vision and motto of the college and also the general discipline that is expected in the college. Through exercises, games, group activities and lectures, topics on self-esteem, goal setting, time management, punctuality, cleanliness and positive attitude were dealt with. Thirty teaching faculty from various disciplines of the college involved themselves in the programme.

          Mentoree records were distributed to all I year U.G. and P.G. students. A programme on ‘Facing the Future’ was conducted for the outgoing students of the Humanities and Commerce students on 28 - 03 – 2016 and for the Science students on 1 – 04 – 2016.  Dr. Mary Christy, retired Professor the Botany Department, Women’s Christian College, Nagercoil addressed the students.

       

      2014-2015

             A one day programme on counseling on the theme “Self Enhancement and Rejuvenation: Your role as Lecturers” was conducted for all teaching staff on 17-06-2014. Mrs. Ratna Robinson (Centre for Counseling and Guidance, Peace Trust, KanyaKumari) was the resource person.

             A one day orientation programme was conducted for I year U.G. students on 01- 07-2014. After the ice breaking session, the students were given a brief introduction about the history of the college, the mission, vision and motto of the college and also the general discipline that is expected in the college. Through exercises, games, group activities and lectures, topics on self-esteem, goal setting, time management, punctuality, cleanliness and positive attitude were dealt with. Thirty teaching faculty from various disciplines of the college involved themselves in the programme.

             Mentoree records were distributed to all I year U.G. and P.G. students. Teaching faculty who are members of the cell visit the college hostel every Saturday evening, spend time with the students, conduct programmes and give moral education  to the students in the hostel.

             A one-day programme on counseling, “Renewing Ourselves” was conducted for the teaching faculty of our college on 01-12-2014 at the Moderator Gnanadasan Hall. Dr. Beulah J. M. Rajkumar, Associate Professor, Lady Doak College, Madurai was the guest speaker.

         
      2013-2014

             A one-day programme on counseling was conducted for the teaching faculty of our college on 19-06-2013 at the Moderator Gnanadasan Hall. Dr. Felicia Chelliah, Associate Professor, Sarah Tucker College, Tirunelveli and Dr. Eugine Franco, Associate Professor, St. Xavier’s College, Tirunelveli were the guest speakers.

             An orientation programme was conducted for all the I Year UG students on 28-06-2013. After the ice breaking session, the students were given a brief introduction about the history of the college, the mission, vision and motto of the college and also the general discipline that is expected in the college. Through exercises, games, group activities and lectures, topics on self-esteem, goal setting, time management, punctuality, cleanliness and positive attitude were dealt with. Thirty teaching faculty from various disciplines of the college involved themselves in the programme.

             The teaching faculty who are members of this cell took turns to be available on all working days to give personal counseling to the students who are in need.

             A seminar on ‘Motivation and Campus Culture’ was conducted for the staff on 4 – 12 – 2013. Dr. SwarnaLatha Joseph and Dr. Dorothy Chandra, Associate Professor, Rani Anna College, Tirunelveli were the resource persons.

           On 17-04-2014, a counseling programme on ‘Facing the Future’ was conducted for the outgoing UG and PG students with an intention to help them plan their higher studies, career and married life.  Dr. Karunakaran, Professor. (Rtd.), St. John’s College, Tirunelveli was the resource person of the day.
